KTowneBiker

KEE is the shortened name for Kingston eBike Enthusiasts...

The Kingston eBike Enthusiasts is an association comprised of a wonderful and diverse group of people who live in and around Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Many of the members ride scooter-styled eBikes, which are the most visible type of eBike on the road today. Members have chosen eBikes as their preferred mode of transportation for a variety of reasons, from saving money to reducing their carbon footprint.

The association was formed in April 2012 shortly before the founder, Eliza Kleywegt, received her EMMO brand Purple Alien Scooter. Seeing a need for a social network for the expanding number of riders on the road, and being unable to find one that had already been established, the idea for The Kingston eBike Enthusiasts was born. "KEE" began simply with a online forum, which is still the main site that members use for communication, and quickly expanded to a number of major social media sites and the ktownebiker.com website. The forum was featured in the Kingston Whig-Standard on July 29, 2012 and saw a huge jump in members as a result.

The Kingston eBike Enthusiasts are working towards bettering the perception of the eBiking community as a whole. We encourage members to follow the law when riding their eBikes; which includes riding sober, stopping at stop signs and red lights, riding as far to the right side of the lane as possible when safe to do so, wearing a helmet, keeping the pedals on the bike, and not riding on the sidewalk. Although "KEE" is not a formal organization at the present time, we do hope to someday advocate for more bike lanes (and the continued right to ride in them).
